The Early Learning Coalition of Lake County would like to
congratulate St. Paul’s Catholic School for winning first place in the VPK
division in the state-wide PSA contest during Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!
VPK, elementary, middle, and high schools across the state were invited to
participate in the contest.
"Opportunities to apply knowledge and skills are
essential to the learning process," said Commissioner of Education Dr.
Tony Bennett. "The Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!
PSA contest is a strong program that allows students to utilize creativity,
leadership skills, and technology to promote the essential life skill of
literacy. I applaud the work of Florida's talented students and thank the many
partners who make this program possible."
First Lady, Anne Scott, presented St. Paul’s VPK program
with $1,000 for most creative public service announcement at the Daytona
International Speedway on Thursday, January 17th.
The kids were able to go on a tour of the Speedway. “It was
awesome to get on the race track and to see some of the cars and meet some of
the people from the Department of Education,” Mary Staley, principal of St.
Paul’s, said. Staley said that money
will be used to buy more books for the VPK program.
Awesome job kids!
