Staff Spotlight- Tim

Out of 25 employees at the Coalition, Tim (poor Tim) is the only guy. Talk about outnumbered!

Having moved from Virginia at the age of 4 and as a Leesburg High School graduate, he now considers himself a Leesburg native. Tim is married to his wife of 6 years and has four beautiful children.
Currently attending the University of Phoenix to obtain a degree in Education, he wants to eventually become an elementary teacher for 4th or 5th grade.

Here at the ELCLC, Tim is a Family Service Specialist. His job is to assess the needs of families and help those who qualify to obtain subsidized child care. Tim also assists families in selecting a provider that best fits their needs and refers them to any community resources they may need.

What brought you to the Coalition?
I came here by chance. I was looking for a new career and so I applied. My boss, Denise, and I really got along and sort of hit it off, so I was hired!
How has your background influenced your work?
I am a father of four-three boys and a girl, so I understand the cost of a family. It’s not easy. I understand what people go through.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
I love being able to help families. It’s so gratifying- making a positive impact on people’s lives and community.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
I hate it when someone doesn’t qualify or if they have to be terminated. You know, when you can’t help out.

When you’re not working at the Coalition, what are your favorite things to do?
I am an AVID sports fan! I support the Florida Gators, the Orlando Magic, and the St. Louis Cardinals. I also coach my son’s t-ball team. And I love spending time with friends, family, kids. I love family life. I’m a family man.
